Two sided, linaer structure village, built in the middle of XVIth century, during the Valakai reform. There are 8 monumental homesteads and 7 separate monumental buildings in the village. Mėčionys is first mentioned in the chronicles of Dysna manor in 1644. The 21 farmstead village was declared an architectural monument.
