The region of Ignalina is decorated with more than 200 lakes, dozens of rivers and ponds, and vast forests. Part of its territory belongs to the protected Aukštaitija National Park, the oldest in Lithuania, as well as Gražutė and Sirvėta regional parks. One of the highest hills in Lithuania is located here, and there are many remains of ancient settlements - mounds.
